Διέψευσε η διοίκηση της Ατλέτικο Μαδρίτης δημοσιεύματα που έκαναν λόγο για επέκταση του συμβολαίου του Ντιέγο Σιμεόνε.

Τα ρεπορτάζ ανέφεραν ότι οι «ροχιμπλάνκος» και ο Αργεντινός προπονητής κατέληξαν σε συμφωνία για νέο συμβόλαιο μέχρι το 2019 ή το 2020. 

Κάτι τέτοιο, πάντως, δεν φαίνεται να επιβεβαιώνεται επίσημα. Το αντίθετο. Λίγες ώρες μετά τα δημοσιεύματα που κυκλοφόρησαν στην χώρα της Ιβηρικής, πηγές από τη διοίκηση της Ατλέτικο διέψευσαν ότι οι δύο πλευρές έχουν καταλήξει σε συμφωνία. 

Όπως ανέφεραν, μάλιστα, σχετικά υπάρχουν όντως συζητήσεις με τον Σιμεόνε, ωστόσο αυτές συνεχίζονται και επί του παρόντος δεν υπάρχει κάτι ανακοινώσιμο. 

Ο 47χρονος προπονητής ανέλαβε την ισπανική ομάδα το 2012 και κατάφερε αυτή την πενταετία να αφήσει το στίγμα του, οδηγώντας την μάλιστα δύο φορές στον τελικό του Τσάμπιονς Λιγκ, αλλά και στην κατάκτηση ενός τίτλου στην Πριμέρα Ντιβιζιόν.
