Με νίκη τελείωσε τη σεζόν 2016/17 η Φενέρμπαχτσε, με ήττα άνοιξε τη σεζόν 2017/18, καθώς λύγισε στη Μάλαγα από την πεισμωμένη Ουνικάχα. Εξαιρετικός και μοιραίος ο Κώστας Σλούκας.
Το ματς είχε ξεκάθαρο φαβορί και ακόμη πιο ξεκάθαρο αουτσάιντερ. Η Μάλαγα στην επιστροφή της στη EuroLeague δεν είναι μεγαθήριο, κατάφερε όμως να κερδίσει τη Φενέρμπαχτσε (68-67) στις λεπτομέρειες και να δείξει ότι δεν πρόκειται να είναι φέτος ο σάκος του μποξ. Οι Ανδαλουσιάνοι του Ζοάν Πλάθα βρέθηκαν να χάνουν με 10 (47-57), άντεξαν όμως και επιβίωσαν με τον Κώστα Σλούκα να είναι μακράν του δεύτερου ο κορυφαίος των Τούρκων αλλά και ο μοιραίος καθώς στο τέλος αστόχησε στο σουτ που θα έδινε τη νίκη στην Πρωταθλήτρια Ευρώπης.

Μπορεί ένας παίκτης με 6 πόντους και 6 ριμπάουντ να πάρει το βραβείο του πολυτιμότερου μιας αναμέτρησης; Φυσικά και μπορεί, αρκεί να έχει κάνει τη δουλειά που έκανε ο πολύπειρος Τζέιμς Όγκουστιν, ο οποίος μάζεψε πέντε επιθετικά και έβαλε τρία μεγάλα καλάθια στην τέταρτη περίοδο για να ηγηθεί της ανατροπής της Ουνικάχα μαζί με τον Ρέι ΜακΚάλουμ.
ΤΟ ΣΤΑΤΙΣΤΙΚΟ ΠΟΥ ΞΕΧΩΡΙΣΕ
Τα 5/27 τρίποντα των Ανδαλουσιάνων, που όμως κατάφεραν να κερδίσουν παρά το 18.5% που είχαν από την περιφέρεια. Κανείς δεν έβαλε περισσότερα από πέντε καλάθια, κανείς δεν μάζεψε περισσότερα από έξι ριμπάουντ, κανείς δεν έδωσε περισσότερες από τρεις ασίστ. Ο ΜακΚάλουμ έγραψε 3/12 σουτ, ο Νέντοβιτς 4/14. Και όμως, η Ουνικάχα πήρε τη νίκη απέναντι στην Πρωταθλήτρια Ευρώπης. Εντυπωσιακός αριθμός και τα 14 επιθετικά ριμπάουντ των Ισπανών, την ώρα που οι αντίπαλοί τους είχαν μόλις τρία.
Ο ΑΓΩΝΑΣ
Με εντυπωσιακό ρυθμό στο πρώτο δεκάλεπτο, η Μάλαγα βρέθηκε μπροστά με 8-4, πριν η Φενέρ απαντήσει με σερί 0-9 για το προσπέρασμα και κλείσει η περίοδος στο 20-20. Οι Ισπανοί μπήκαν στη δεύτερη με επτά σερί άστοχα σουτ σε τρία λεπτά, οι Τούρκοι το εκμεταλλεύθηκαν, κράτησαν ένα μικρό προβάδισμα και πήγαν στα αποδυτήρια με αέρα πέντε πόντων (36-41). Ο αφιονισμένος Σλούκας μείωσε ακόμη περισσότερο (68-67), η Μάλαγα σπατάλησε και νέα επίθεση και η Φενέρ είχε τον τελευταίο λόγο με 6" στο ρολόι. Η μπάλα πήγε στα χέρια του Σλούκα, εκείνος έπαιξε στην απομόνωση, έκανε ένα σουτ από τα έξι μέτρα, αστόχησε και δεν κατάφερε να γίνει ο απόλυτος ήρωας της βραδιάς.
